Yoshoku Takeyama
洋食 たけやま
Located in Sugamo, Toshima Ward, Yoshoku Takeyama serves comforting Japanese Western-style classics, including fork-tender domestic beef stew, rich hayashi omelette rice, and juicy hamburg steaks.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Simmered for a full day and night until the domestic beef becomes tender enough to break apart with chopsticks, the beef stew is the undisputed centerpiece at Yoshoku Takeyama. A deeply savory, gently tangy sauce coats each cut of beef, making the set served alongside rice and salad a thoroughly satisfying meal.
Omelette rice dishes are equally favored here, with omu-hayashi leading the pack. Fluffy eggs envelop the seasoned rice before receiving a generous ladle of hayashi sauce, rich with the sweetness of soft onions and stewed beef. Plated alongside a scoop of classic macaroni salad, it captures the nostalgic charm of classic yoshoku dining. Diners can also customize their plate by adding toppings such as fried shrimp or crab cream croquettes.
The wider menu covers everyday comfort foods like plump grilled hamburg steaks, thick-cut pork ginger saute, mixed fry set meals, and katsu curry. Drinks range from casual daytime touches like cream sodas and iced cafe au lait to draft beer and wine enjoyed alongside dinner.
Set along the lively Sugamo Jizo-dori shopping street, the restaurant provides a calm dining room suited for solo lunches or unhurried family dinners. It makes a dependable stop whenever the mood calls for warm, classic Western-style comfort food while exploring the neighborhood.
